Spring Staples with GAP

Happy Tuesday y’all! It’s officially spring (YAY!) but it still feels like winter in the Bay Area! It’s currently raining and cold outside but I’m not complaining! Okay (eh um) maybe a little…only because I’m sooo ready for sunshine and bike rides. With the weather changing it’s a great time to add a few spring pieces to the family wardrobe! GAP is having 40% off today using code – TODAY. So I did a quick roundup with a few of my favorites for the family! One of the items I bought (I know I’ll wear it constantly) was the grey tie waste shirt, and I love the Panama hats from GAP  because they hold up well and are super affordable! My favorite kid pick is a toss-up between the donut pajamas (btw I want to eat a donut now) and those boho-tassel sandals! So adorable! I only wish the donut pajamas came in my size so I could match my mini’s! Happy shopping.

Valentine’s Day in Topshop

VDay_4Aside from my husband, the other two loves in my life, are my messy and silly two toddlers. So, in celebration of Valentine’s Day, we decided on a fun mommy and son photoshoot. Jack who is also nicknamed “little lover” is full of affection and kisses, and it was fun to capture his sweetness. The wind made this day a little hard to shoot, balloons + dresses + wind don’t play well, but it was still loads of fun! I adore a classic silhouette like this cherry red dress by Topshop. It’s both classy and sexy without showing too much skin. The look feels a bit Kate Middleton, which is always a good thing!

These days, what I enjoy most about Valentine’s Day are the sweet and simple acts of love shown by my children. In our house, Valentine’s Day has less to do with expensive flowers or fancy chocolates and more about showing our love with homemade cards, heart-shaped pancakes, and sweet moments talking about how we show love for each other. This year, I decided no fancy Pinterest Valentines cards would be required of my kids. I let them choose exactly what they wanted, so it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Paw Patrol for the win. In all honesty, they were way more excited about these Valentine’s cards than previous years. As we put together their goodies I asked them a question, “Why do you think we make Valentine’s treats to give our friends and family?” Their response went something like this, “We loooove the candy! And… because we love our friends and family.” Their response was exactly what you would expect from two toddlers, but I was happy they understood the holiday represented more than just candy or gifts. Speaking of gifts. When it comes to celebrating this holiday, Mike has always been a romantic at heart. He often surprises me with a bouquet of flowers, a sweet gift, or my favorite chocolates from Teuscher in San Francisco. As much as I appreciate and adore these tokens of love, my favorite gift is a night with just the two of us. Whether we are eating in or dining out, a delicious meal and a shared bottle of wine is my idea of the perfect Valentines! What’s your favorite way to spend the holiday?

 { On me – Topshop dress, Target tassle necklace, Steve Madden heels. On Jack – Gap red striped collar shirt, Janie and Jack trouser and suspender, Livie and Luca shoes, Target bowtie }

Whether you spend this day with friends, family, or that special someone, we wish you a day full of love and laughter!

White with Touches of Brights

(Ray-Ban AviatorsGap shirt on sale for $7, Gap skinnies, cute clutch option, my necklace )

I love pairing neutrals like white jeans and a simple print top with pops of color. Especially if you are keeping the outfit classic and ladylike, as I did here for a recent lunch. The bright colors add a touch of playfulness.

San Francisco is full of historical buildings that are rich and beautiful in architecture. I’ll always admire famous sites like the Palace of Fine Arts, and the Painted Ladies, but I’m constantly in awe of the cities lesser-known buildings. What are their stories? What were they like 100 years ago? Painted salmon pink, this building used to be the Love Chapel Church, but has recently closed down.The sign is still hanging, and I like to think that maybe one day the church will return. Once again, becoming a place of peace and hope for its people

Capitola Style – Marilyn Monroe meets Boho

Capitola Style

If you’ve never visited Capitola, then you don’t know what you’re missing! Often compared to Cinque Terre, the town is truly something special. My husband’s family has been vacationing at Capitola since he was six months old, and I feel lucky to have become a part of the annual tradition. Many of my friends ask me about Capitola, and have never actually been (it’s only an hour and a half from the city), so stay tuned for a post on what’s so fabulous about this family friendly town.

Until then, let’s talk beach style. Here are my key pieces for this vacation but #2 is definitely a newbie. My husband is probably going to be confused when he sees me rocking a one piece…let’s be honest here, for most men, a teeny-weeny string bikini is sexy and likely the preferred attire when basking in the sun. Well, sorry boys..I say one pieces are SEXY too! I love that they are making a come back (and so does my post children mid-section). With so many one piece styles that feel a bit retro and fresh, I had a hard time deciding. I ended up going with a classic red one piece, similar to the Tory Burch one posted, and I can’t wait to embrace my Marilyn Monroe chic style. Paired with a panama hat, cat-eye sunglasses (I’m obsessing over the Versace ones above) and some simple gold accessories, it keeps the one piece from feeling too matronly. It will be a twist on my usual boho beach style, but of course those items are packed as well. Oh and please take note of this fab CALIFORNIA towel. I immediately thought of the song “California Girls” by the Beach Boys when I found this towel. Happy summer all!
