How to Host a Wrap Party

Wrapping Party

We are less than a week away from Christmas! Can you believe it? How many of you sit around your tree on Christmas Eve or maybe a week or two before the big day wrapping gifts alone? I’ve done that many times and it’s fine. I usually have a Christmas movie on and a glass of yummy eggnog, but I miss the times when I lived closer to family and we’d sprawl out on the floor wrapping our packages and laughing together. So, this year I decided to host a Wrap Party for a few girlfriends. It was such a fun night! We shared gift ideas for kids and husbands, sipped wine, indulged in some yummy bites and the best part..everyone left feeling accomplished. A few of my girlfriends said they wrapped 90% of their gifts that night! How fantastic is that! So, I thought I’d share some details about the night. Below are a few of my tidbits on, “How to Host a Wrap Party”. Its not too late to throw an impromptu party this week with some of your besties! P.S. My winter white sweater is here and on sale. I sized up for a more slouchy look!

  1. Communicate your needs.  I supplied the wrapping paper, ribbon, and other gift toppers but asked friends to bring their own tags. A few friends brought extra wrapping paper which ended up being helpful! I sourced most of my supplies from HomeGoods and Target.
  2. Make it fun and give ideas of how to dress your gifts.  If you have time wrap some gifts in advance so that they get inspired with your wrapping ideas.
  3. Make everything accessible. I had a bin of wrapping paper to pull from and a caddy/bow box that the girls could easily access.
  4. Remember basics. Supply a roll of tape and a pair of scissors per guest so that no one is waiting/sharing the basics. Have plenty of pens for addressing tags and cards.
  5. Keep the attire supper casual and comfy. When you’re alone wrapping gifts you aren’t dressed up sitting on the floor so don’t make your guests do that! I told my guests leggings, sweatshirts, slippers. Next year I’m going to have guests come in their coziest Christmas pj’s to up the festive factor.
  6. Feed your guests! No brainer..I know, but have simple finger food out and nibbles that make it easy to take a break from wrapping to socialize and get something in your tummy. Don’t forget the Peppermint Bark!
  7. Drinks! No ladies night is complete without wine and bubbles, right!!! Think ahead, you want your guests to be able to set their drink down and focus on wrapping, so small tables and trays serve a good purpose.
  8. Consider a takeaway. I wanted to do this but didn’t have everything lined up. Next year, for sure! Send your guests home with a small gift that fits the party theme. Maybe it’s a roll of red twine for future wrapping or a set of cute name tags. You could also just send home some of your favorite holiday treats.

My wardrobe during winter was grey, black, camo, and touches of blush on repeat! More recently I’m adoring all the floral prints that are making a big splash with major retailers and small boutiques. It’s such a girly trend but you can also find tropical prints such as a palm print that doesn’t feel as girly. My dress is from one of my favorite online retailers,  Jane.com and I highly recommend shopping/checking out the site. It’s a favorite of mine for finding trendy clothing, house hold items, kid gear, gifts, and more at a discount price. This blue cold shoulder floral dress was from Jane.com for only $34.99! I recently had a girls night out so I threw it on with some booties and tassel earrings to dress it up a bit! The floral trend is so easy to take from day to night making it super versatile! My dress was sold out but I linked a bunch of my favorite floral finds at the bottom of this post! I’m obsessed with the floral wrap dress linked and the Ted Baker clutch is so beautiful! Hope everyone had a lovely Easter! xx

DIY – Wine Bottles

I love an easy DIY project, and it’s a great opportunity to get crafty with my kids! Glass bottles make a fabulous DIY project. If you were to walk in my pantry you would find a storage container full of glass jars. I repurpose many kinds but love jelly jars, pickle jars, and of course wine bottles! At first, I bought pink and gold glitter spray paint for our Valentine’s Day bottles but then changed my mind. These days, white has quickly become my favorite color in home decor! I love the clean and fresh look of white, so I changed up our spray paint to white (not pictured below). With so many amazing and crafty DIY wine bottle projects on Pinterest I wanted to inspire readers with something that was simple to create and could be reused for any holiday using Target‘s dollar bin. Y’all know I’m a huge fan of the dollar bin! Adding some style and cute holiday decor can be done without a hefty price tag. Oh, and another reason I love this DIY, it’s sooo easy. Here we go..

DIY Wine Bottles

Items needed:

  • Wine or Pellegrino bottles
  • Spray paint (color of your choice)
  • Target dollar bin decorations. I’m using a kid’s pom pom necklace, a small tassel bunting, and some Valentine gold stickers. All $1! We also picked out wood letters to spray paint gold or pink but didn’t end up using these ones. However, if you like the idea then simply spray paint the letters and shapes and tape them on instead of gluing.

Step 1. Make sure the bottle labels are peeled and bottles are clean. Next spray paint your bottles.

2. Allow your bottles to dry for a few hours. Then decorate! Using the peel and stick dollar bin options it’s that easy to decorate. After Valentine’s Day is over we will peel these decorations off and use the bottles for St. Patty’s, Easter (I already have the cutest felt bunnies to use), and other holidays.

I just love the pom pom necklaces used as decorations. I simply tied each necklace in a bow on the back!

Camo Sweatshirt

If you’ve noticed from my earlier posts, I’m having a slight obsession with the camo trend! So here is another camo favorite for y’all to shop–> The cutest camo sweatshirt on sale for $15! As a busy mom, the athleisure look is definitely a go to for me. It’s sporty, comfy, and cute! This cozy sweatshirt hits at the waist making it perfect for layering with a vest and leggings. It’s both stylish and smart to layer your clothing in colder months, but sometimes if you have clothing that adds bulk, consider defining your waist with the first layer. This will keep you from looking like a big marshmallow. This is the perfect mom-style for running around with toddlers, but the sweatshirt would be super cute paired with a skirt and booties or distressed denim! Grab it here. If you’d like to shop more camo options, check out my Camo Roundup a few posts back with some great choices for the entire family. Two more days until Thanksgiving, wahoo! As always, you can shop the rest of my look below by clicking on the images for direct shopping.

The Camo Trend

Let’s talk about the camo trend! Camo gear is no longer just for those that hunt and fish. The trendy print has made its way to clothing, accessories, decor items, and even bedding! I’m loving this trend, maybe not on my bed, but definitely in my wardrobe. Lately one of my favorite go to looks is my distressed jeans with a drapey tee (in white, black, gray, or blush) and my camo baseball hat. I’m also a big fan of the print for my kids! Audrey has a camo vest (from the Old Navy boys section) that she rocks all the time and looks adorable in it. The H&M camo padded parka linked was just released and at $70 it’s a steal. Shop today’s roundup with 10 great items! Most are under $50, so get your camo on now!
